Vintage Mid Century Modernist Japanese Stoneware Pottery Ikebana Pot Vase Marked
VINTAGE MID CENTURY MODERNIST ART POTTERY STONEWARE IKEBANA POT VASE MARKED SEIHO. The featured item represents a Japanese modernist stoneware ikebana or other kind of pot/vase that measures approximately 9 1/4" from the floor to the tallest points, 5 1/4" at the widest points and 2 1/4 in diameter at the foot base. The piece is made of white coarse clay with rough and textured surface and finished in tan/buff and black with green highlights glaze. The pot has a slightly flaring cylindrical foot and a square bowl with two of the corners swung up, one being taller then the other. The sides are decorated with impressed geometric shapes - three rectangles with different sizes and orientation. The underside is marked with two Japanese characters that look like or Seih.
The item comes in overall good condition with no major damages. There are some small chips on some of the corners and the edges and other vintage wear like marks and scratches here and there but nothing significantly bad. Crafting and glazing imperfections and natural to the clay flaws.
The two lower corners on the rim may look like being damaged but they are not, that's part of the production. The interior may use some cleaning.
